I feel for the children, however, who surely deserved this nor the unwanted attention before it.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. I feel very sorry for the children!

The saddest thing of all is that Meleanie is now a 2009 statistic for gun violence. The judge who said she was lacking in common sense was just proven right.

I just can’t believe how some believe its just fine to have loaded guns in a house where one runs a baby sitting service. Any adult with some common sense should know that this is poor judgment. I truly feel bad for the kids. Just learning about this event is sickening.

She wore her gun to those dangerous kiddie soccer games, guess the place she really needed it was in the kitchen.

Guns do not kill people, people kill people. Blaming the crime on the gun is like people blaming spoons for being fat.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. - Thomas Jefferson

If you don't want a gun, don't buy one but do not take my right away because of your ignorance and fear

”Guns do not kill people, people kill people.”

Indeed.

What of ”People with guns kill people.”

I refuse to take a specific stance on this issue as it is, like so many others, one which inspires so much vitriol and circumlocution. However, the issue is not whether people have the right to bear arms (as your constitutional rights assert) but in what circumstances they should be able to do so. The ”tyranny in government” Jefferson refers to is surely the tyranny of the long-past British rule over the American colonies ?

It seems that it is a simpler matter to take quotes out of context than to mediate solutions. That said, I don’t own or want a gun and I feel deeply that the more guns we have in a society, the more recursively the (personal-security) problem of needing them iterates.

You have to wonder what a gun could possibly be useful for, worn overtly at a children’s soccer match...
