The song is an adaptation of the original song of the same name by the Australian musical artist Paul Kelly (pictured below). It features sound-bytes of famous speeches by Labour politicians and there have been a number of musicians and significant people involved in the project. The words have been altered to reflect the new message of the song, but in a sense, the message is exactly the same and is reflected in it’s very title.

The song begins with some sound-bytes of Kevin Rudd, Australia’s only recently installed Prime Minister, presenting his seminal “Sorry Speech” this year. The apology was to the Indigenous peoples of Australia and for all the wrongs they have suffered. It is generally seen as a significant step in the process of reconciliation in Australia.
