Very sad story indeed. However, I will never understand why anyone would walk the streets with their family so late at night. I am always inside with my children at least one hour before dark.
I lost my brother on Dec 17@3am and my mom and i told him more than a hundred times to stop hanging out so late especially without transportation.

I am sorry to hear about your brother. really. At 0300 17/7/01 (for you logical-sequence-and-time-defying Americans, that reads as 7/17/01) I was almost beaten to death in a mugging on a dark street in the center of town.

I was in denial about growing up. So I used to go out late at night and to not necessarily safe places. I survived. I am, however, still in denial about growing up. ;)

I feel your family’s pain. It was almost my own family’s.
