In the Philippines, there’s a law called ’Indigenous Act’ or something to that effect. It’s supposed to protect the indigenous peoples here, their rights, etc.
Still, the raging controversy is about these peoples’ ancestral domains. That law is inutile!
We all know that indigenous people are a marginalized minority.
Nice brushstrokes, Grace ;)
It is interesting that Mugabe (can’t escape the topic. sorry) in Zimbabwe calls his project (the one which kicked the farmers off their lands and turned the farms into squats for the alleged war-veterans) ”Indigenisation”...
The original inhabitants of Australia have never had it good under white/euro power. Things are better but there is a lot of pain from the past. I wouldn’t even dare to gamble a guess at a solution... it is an intractable problem.
