Probably 5 million have died in the Congo wars over the past decade. It is time for the Africans and African Union to deal with this mess. The colonial period ended half a century ago...at some point these people have to pull themselves up.

There are sexual atrocities committed around the world every day, not just in the Congo. My heart goes out to each victim, regardless of age or gender. We all could use a serious overhaul in our thoughts of sexuality and respect for each other.

I have empathy for the victims, but I have even more empathy for the victims belittled by their own community.

“I don’t know how to make baskets,” he said. So he spends his days sitting on a bench, by himself.
